Elda Cerrato (Asti, Italy, 1931 - Buenos Aires, 2022)
She has held 21 solo exhibitions in Argentina and abroad, including the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas and the Museum of the Americas, in Washington, USA.
She lived and worked in Caracas for two long periods, the last one between 1977 and 1983.
From 1962 to the present, she has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions with paintings, drawings, engravings, installations and performances in Europe, Asia and in North, Central and South America, including Argentina´s and Venezuela´s Biennales and National Salons as well as in eight International Biennales, in some of which she has won prizes.
She has been involved in teaching, academic and research activities since 1960 in universities and art schools both in Argentina and abroad, especially at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Universidad de Buenos Aires and at the Humanities Department of the Universidad Central de Venezuela's Art School.
She is currently a Professor Consultant at the Art Department and Researcher for the Instituto de Historia del Arte Argentino y Latinoamericano at the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and external examiner for other universities in Argentina and Uruguay.
She has served as a member of academic and artistic juries; since 1964, she has published articles, made short films, participated in radio programs, and has been an active participant in national and international conferences and congresses.
